One of the most important commands for any AutoCAD user to know is eTransmit. This allows you to gather all the information required to send a set of drawings to someone else including xrefs, fonts style, ctb files and printer pc3 files. You can also use eTransmit to archive a set of drawings, bind multiple drawings with xrefs and purge multiple drawings.

A colleague we work with has confirmed that the 2011 release of Autodesk software contains an updated version of FlexNET / LMTools. Your Network license servers will need to be upgraded to the latest version (11.7) in order to ensure support for the latest 2011 and previous Autodesk product releases.

Here is a quick video on the Conduit tool inside of Revit MEP 2011. Finally after many releases of RMEP, Autodesk has listened to Electrical designers and added the ability to create Conduit in RMEP 2011.

 When it comes to AutoCAD, it does not take too much advantage of multi-core processors like a Dual Core or Quad Core. AutoCAD uses the power of a single core but there is a system variable called WHIPTHREAD that can be adjusted to use multi-core for specific functions.

Looking for a way to reduce the file size of your Revit project file (.rvt)?

The trick is to use the File-->Save As button. In the Options there is a checkbox called "Compact File". This won't drastically reduce the size but it will get rid of some "junk" that can bloat the file.

Want to know how to draw orthogonally in Revit commonly referred to as Ortho (F8) in AutoCAD?

While in a draw command like Wall, Pipe or Grid Line, hold down the SHIFT key.

ORTHO = SHIFT
